- Smarter Documentation: Our custom software is designed to slash admin time, so you’re not stuck charting at midnight when you could be home at a reasonable hour.

About this role
Skilled Wound Care is recruiting a General Surgeon for Philadelphia to practice wound care medicine in skilled nursing facilities—a role designed for surgeons seeking clinical work without the traditional call burden. You'd perform surgical and sharp debridement, evaluate complex wounds, and direct patient care through the healing process using current wound-care protocols. The position is part-time with earnings between $200,000 and $250,000 annually, structured on per-patient and per-procedure compensation plus quarterly bonuses, with no earning cap as an independent contractor.
This is fundamentally a different surgical practice model: Monday through Friday, no nights, weekends, or emergency pagers. The bedside procedures are less physically taxing than operating room cases, which appeals to surgeons wanting longevity in their careers without the strain. You maintain surgical autonomy and direct clinical decision-making outside hospital hierarchies, and the company's custom documentation software is built to minimize administrative time. No prior wound care experience is required; training is provided.
You'll need an MD or DO, an unrestricted state medical license, and DEA eligibility. Skilled Wound Care has been Great Place to Work certified for four consecutive years, with 95% of current employees rating it favorably. The role suits General Surgeons, as well as Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physicians, who are ready to step away from high-pressure hospital environments and call rotations.
