Description

Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Senior Product Manager, Virtual Care to join our Product team.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

As a Senior Product Manager, you’ll lead product development for Oscar Virtual Care (OVC), improving how members access care and how clinicians deliver it. Your work will span the experience before, during, and after a visit, from intake and scheduling to clinical documentation, treatment, and follow-up.

Oscar brings together a health plan and its own care delivery organization, creating an opportunity to connect product decisions directly to the cost and quality of care. You’ll work with clinical and business partners to identify where technology can help members get the care they need. This includes improving access to virtual care and health assessments, supporting effective clinical workflows, and reducing administrative work for care teams.

You’ll turn ambiguous problems into a clear product direction, align partners around priorities, and work with engineering, design, and data science to deliver and measure results.

You will report into a Director, Product Management.

Work Location: This position is based in our New York City office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid

Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $163,944.00 - $215,176.50 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Virtual Care. Prioritize investments based on their expected impact on affordability, clinical outcomes, member experience, and operating efficiency.
  • Lead discovery with members, clinicians, and operations teams. Combine user research with data analysis to identify problems, challenge assumptions, and build a business case for product investments.
  • Improve the member journey from finding and accessing care through the visit and follow-up. Reduce friction in intake and scheduling, improve visit completion, and help care teams share context and coordinate next steps.
  • Build tools that help clinicians deliver high-quality care efficiently, including reviewing medical history, documenting encounters, addressing care gaps, and ordering appropriate tests and treatments. Evaluate opportunities for AI and automation to reduce administrative work while maintaining clinical quality.
  • Define success metrics and measure the clinical, financial, and operational impact of product changes. Use findings to refine priorities and improve the experience after launch.
  • Lead alignment across clinical, operations, engineering, design, and data science partners. Bring clear recommendations, work through competing needs and tradeoffs, and establish decisions that move the work forward.
  • Own complex initiatives from problem definition through delivery. Write clear requirements, manage dependencies and risks, and resolve issues across teams with the autonomy expected of a Senior Product Manager.
  • Invest in strengthening the talent on Oscar's product team, by developing more junior team members through mentorship.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience collaborating cross-functionally among engineers, designers, operations experts, and others in a Product Management or Product Management-adjacent role.
  • 4+ years of experience in driving rigorous prioritization processes.
  • 4+ years of experience with tech systems and understanding basic technology infrastructure such as backend services, database relationships, and leveraging database tools such as SQL.
  • 2+ years of experience leading complex, cross-domain initiatives.
  • 2+ years of experience root-causing ambiguous problems, building roadmaps towards a solution, and successfully executing against that roadmap.

Bonus points

  • 1+ years of experience building clinician-facing experiences.

About this role

Oscar's Virtual Care product team is looking for a Senior Product Manager to own the full patient and clinician experience within their integrated health plan and care delivery system. You'd shape how members find and access virtual care, how doctors document and deliver treatment, and how administrative friction gets reduced across the entire visit lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of member experience, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency—meaning your product decisions have direct visibility into both care quality and costs.

The work demands strong cross-functional leadership across clinical, operations, engineering, design, and data science teams. You'll move from discovery (research with members and clinicians) through strategy and prioritization, then own complex initiatives end-to-end, including defining success metrics and measuring impact. The role expects you to turn ambiguous problems into clear direction, manage competing priorities, and mentor junior product managers. You'll need at least six years of product management experience with demonstrated ability to drive rigorous prioritization and lead multi-domain initiatives, plus solid technical literacy around databases and backend systems.

This is a hybrid position based in New York City with three required office days per week, including mandatory Thursdays. The base salary ranges from $163,944 to $215,176.50 annually, with equity, performance bonuses, unlimited vacation, and standard benefits including parental leave and wellness reimbursements.
