About this role

LightFeather IO LLC is hiring a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to build and maintain cloud infrastructure for federal IT environments. This hybrid role (four days on-site in Washington, D.C.) centers on designing and deploying secure Azure solutions, with particular emphasis on infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Azure Virtual Desktop management, and CI/CD automation via GitLab. You'll apply DevOps practices across the full stack—from networking and storage to identity and compliance—while ensuring systems meet federal security standards including NIST, RMF, and FedRAMP requirements.

The position demands substantial hands-on depth: at least three years each with Azure, Terraform, GitLab pipelines, and CI/CD work, plus four years of PowerShell scripting and five years in cloud or DevOps engineering overall. You'll need an active Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required) and proven experience supporting Azure Virtual Desktop in production, including troubleshooting and performance tuning. Strong networking knowledge and proficiency with PowerShell, Bash, and JSON/YAML round out the core skill set.

This role suits engineers with solid federal cloud experience who want to deepen their expertise in Azure infrastructure and automation while working directly with government stakeholders. The salary range is $130,000–$170,000 annually based on experience. Prior work in DoD or federal agencies, plus familiarity with AKS, serverless Azure services, or FinOps, would strengthen your candidacy.
