EVOCS Overview
EVOCS (Evolution Cloud Service) is an IT and cybersecurity services firm. We place skilled engineers with enterprise clients on network, security, and platform work. We're hiring a Senior Security Engineer on contract for a client that builds and runs hyperscale data center campuses for some of the world's largest cloud and AI companies.
🎯 Role Overview
You'll be the hands-on technical owner of physical security systems at a hyperscale data center campus: access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and visitor management. These systems are lease-critical. When a reader or camera goes down, the customer SLA clock starts. You'll keep the systems running and fix faults on site the same day. You'll also keep as-built documentation accurate and make sure the campus passes customer security inspections without special preparation. The goal of the role is to rely less on integrators, so you'll maintain, troubleshoot, and commission the systems yourself and only call integrators for warranty or specialist work.
🧩 What You Will Do
Operations & Maintenance
- Own day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control, video, intrusion detection, and visitor management systems
- Run scheduled preventive maintenance: health checks, firmware updates, storage verification, and camera coverage validation
- Monitor video retention, storage capacity, and system performance, and flag capacity or lifecycle needs before they become problems
Troubleshooting & Escalation
- Diagnose and fix system faults on site
- Manage integrator warranty and specialist work when escalation is needed
Expansion & Commissioning
- Support installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and turnover of security systems in each phase of campus expansion
- Work with Site Security, Construction Security, and Enterprise Security Architecture on standards, projects, and expansion scope
Documentation & Compliance
- Build and maintain as-built documentation, device inventory, configuration standards, and change records
- Confirm that lease-driven and customer security requirements are met at all times, and keep the supporting evidence
🧠 What You Will Bring
The top candidate will have...
- 3–5 years of hands-on electronic security systems experience covering access control, IP video, and intrusion detection
- Solid IP networking fundamentals and hands-on experience with cameras, readers, controllers, and edge devices
- Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, structured cabling, device configuration, and technical documentation
Key Skills & Competencies
- Enterprise access control and video management platforms (Genetec Security Center, Synergis and Omnicast, strongly preferred)
- Security system storage, video retention requirements, and health monitoring
- Strong documentation, communication, and structured problem-solving
- Comfortable working on your own on a campus
- Available for occasional after-hours or on-call support
- Able to pass required background screenings
Ideally you have...
- Data center, colocation, or other critical infrastructure experience
- Experience supporting security systems through construction, commissioning, and operational turnover
- Manufacturer certifications (Genetec or similar)
- An associate or bachelor's degree in electronics, IT, engineering technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience

About this role
Evolution Cloud Services is placing a hands-on Security Site Engineer at a hyperscale data center campus in Reno. You'll own the physical security infrastructure—access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and visitor management systems—and keep them operational to meet strict customer SLAs. When systems fail, you'll diagnose and repair them on site the same day, minimizing downtime. The role is built around reducing reliance on external integrators, so you'll handle maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning yourself, escalating only warranty or specialist work.
This is a contract position suited to someone with 3–5 years of hands-on electronic security experience, particularly with enterprise platforms like Genetec Security Center, Synergis, and Omnicast. You'll need solid IP networking fundamentals, practical experience with cameras, readers, controllers, and edge devices, and the ability to document systems accurately and keep them compliant with lease-driven security requirements. Data center or critical infrastructure background is a plus, as is any manufacturer certification.
You'll work in-office in Reno and should be comfortable working independently on campus, available for occasional after-hours support, and able to pass background screening. The salary range is $50–70K. This role suits someone who wants to own technical operations end-to-end rather than coordinate from a distance—you're the person keeping the systems running.
