About this role
Equinox Engineering is seeking a seasoned project controls leader to join its Houston office on a hybrid basis. With 10+ years in project controls and at least 5 years in EPCM oil and gas work, you would manage scheduling, cost control, earned value analysis, and forecasting across a portfolio of complex energy projects—from conventional and heavy oil to carbon capture and power generation. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you'll develop integrated schedules, conduct variance and critical path analysis, prepare stakeholder reports, and drive continuous improvement in controls processes and tools.
The role balances technical depth with collaboration and mentorship. You'll work closely with Project Managers, engineers, and discipline leads to integrate scheduling and cost data into master schedules, support change and risk management, and liaise with clients on controls matters. Your expertise in Primavera P6, Excel, earned value management, and forecasting will be central to keeping projects on track and informing key decisions. Leadership capability matters here—the company values mentoring others and contributing thought leadership within the controls function.
This position suits someone who performs well under pressure, manages competing priorities without losing quality, and communicates confidently with senior stakeholders. A background in accounting or engineering is preferred, and certifications like PSP or PMP, or experience with schedule risk analysis, would strengthen your candidacy. Equinox emphasizes a collaborative, technically strong culture with genuine career growth and meaningful work across diverse energy sectors globally.
