About this role

Penske Media is building out its payroll function and looking for an analyst to manage payroll processing across multiple brands within the company—a portfolio that includes Variety, Rolling Stone, The Verge, Billboard, and dozens of other media properties. Based in Los Angeles and reporting to the Payroll Manager, you'd handle bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll transactions, maintain HRIS records, process employee onboardings and terminations, and manage benefit plan administration. A significant part of the role involves union payroll work: calculating salary increases and retroactive pay per union agreements, processing union dues and initiation fees, and collaborating with legal and people teams on union-related policies and audits.

The ideal candidate brings three to five years of payroll experience, with at least two years specifically in union payroll processing. You'll need strong technical skills—expert-level Excel proficiency including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs—and hands-on experience with web-based payroll and timekeeping systems, ideally UKG. Beyond the mechanics, the role calls for someone detail-oriented, analytically minded, and comfortable navigating multi-state employment law and compliance requirements. PMC emphasizes collaboration and values people who think creatively about process improvement.

The position is full-time, in-office, with a salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience. Benefits include fully employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, paid parental leave, a 401(k) match, and a flexible vacation policy.
