Description

ICON develops advanced construction technology, combining robotics, software, and advanced materials to transform how the world builds. We construct homes and multi-story buildings for commercial and government customers.

This role will serve as the dedicated finance partner to the leadership of ICON's construction businesses, including our government and defense work, with full P&L oversight across go-to-market, delivery, and operations. You will establish the planning and review cadence these businesses run on. You will report to the VP of Finance and operate as an embedded individual contributor with a high degree of autonomy.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the annual budget, long-range plan, and underlying financial models.
  • Establish and run the monthly operating cadence, including forecast updates, budget-vs-actuals reviews with business leadership, and a standard review package that explains key drivers and recommended actions.
  • Own the revenue forecast end to end, translating pipeline, win rates, and project timing into a reliable view of bookings and revenue.
  • Forecast and track project-level profitability and gross margin.
  • Build capacity and operations forecasts that translate revenue targets into staffing needs, print and delivery output, utilization, and the mix of billable and non-billable time.
  • Define and track operating metrics such as utilization, print productivity, and unit costs.
  • Advise business leadership on operating and investment decisions through investment cases and scenario analysis.

What we are looking for

  • 7 to 10 years in FP&A, strategic finance, operations finance, or management consulting.
  • Proven business partnering experience as a trusted advisor to senior operating leaders, with the ability to influence decisions and translate financial analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Experience supporting a full P&L, including revenue, delivery costs, and operating expenses.
  • Strong driver-based modeling skills, including COGS, gross margin, project profitability, headcount-driven capacity, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment with limited established process.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.

Nice to have

  • Experience in construction, real estate development, government contracting, project-based services, or
  • another physical product or service business.
  • Pipeline and sales-capacity planning for a go-to-market organization.
  • Experience building planning processes or tools from the ground up.
  • Experience at both established companies and high-growth, earlier-stage companies.
  • MBA or CPA

About this role

ICON is seeking a Senior Strategic Finance Manager II to serve as the embedded finance partner for its construction businesses, including government and defense operations. You'll own full P&L oversight across go-to-market, delivery, and operations, reporting to the VP of Finance with significant autonomy to shape how the business runs financially. This means building and maintaining the annual budget and long-range financial models, establishing the monthly operating rhythm with forecasts and performance reviews, and translating pipeline data into reliable revenue projections while tracking project-level profitability and margins.

The role demands 7 to 10 years in FP&A, strategic finance, or operations finance, paired with a track record of advising senior leaders and influencing decisions through financial analysis. You'll need strong driver-based modeling skills—particularly around COGS, gross margin, project profitability, and headcount-driven capacity planning—and the ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment where established processes may not yet exist. Experience in construction, real estate, government contracting, or project-based services is valuable; an MBA or CPA is a plus but not required.

This is a contract position based in Austin, Texas, requiring in-office work. It suits someone who thrives as a business partner rather than a back-office analyst, comfortable building planning infrastructure from scratch and translating complex financial drivers into clear recommendations for operating decisions.
