About this role

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to join its Troy, Michigan office on a hybrid, contract basis. This role sits at the intersection of product development and manufacturing excellence, requiring you to manage supplier readiness across production ramps, lead new product introductions from design through buyoff, and drive continuous improvement across quality systems and processes. You'll own critical responsibilities including PPAP and FAI reviews, root-cause investigations on supplier issues, and monitoring of quality metrics using statistical tools—all while partnering closely with sourcing, program, and cross-functional teams to mitigate risk and improve manufacturability.

The position demands substantial automotive experience: at minimum eight years in quality or supplier quality roles at an OEM or Tier 1/2 supplier, paired with hands-on NPI and product-launch work. You'll need fluency in automotive standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3) and core quality methodologies (APQP, PPAP, FAI, PFMEA, 8D, SPC, GD&T). A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field is required; ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA) or Six Sigma credentials are valued. Exposure to emerging areas—EV platforms, autonomous vehicles, or high-reliability industries like aviation and medical devices—would strengthen your candidacy, as would experience across diverse commodity areas from seating to powertrains to electronics.

Compensation ranges from $120,000 to $140,000 based on qualifications and experience. The role involves travel to supplier sites as needed and will require a pre-employment drug screening as a condition of hire.
