Healthcare Staffing Specialist

At Openwork Health, we believe healthcare staffing is about building meaningful relationships and creating a better experience for healthcare professionals and the clients who rely on them. We are looking for a Healthcare Staffing Specialist who is passionate about people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys being the connection point between healthcare clients and healthcare professionals.

In this role, you will manage relationships with active healthcare clients and healthcare professionals within your assigned territory. You will play a key role in understanding client staffing needs, supporting contract fulfillment, strengthening relationships, and ensuring healthcare professionals have a positive experience throughout their assignments.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys building relationships, making connections, solving problems, and taking ownership of the customer experience. You will work closely with clients, healthcare professionals, recruiters, and internal teams to ensure staffing needs are communicated effectively and opportunities are acted on quickly.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with active healthcare clients and healthcare professionals within an assigned territory.
  • Conduct regular outreach with clients to understand staffing needs, identify opportunities, and support ongoing partnership growth.
  • Connect with healthcare professionals weekly to discuss availability, upcoming opportunities, and contract needs.
  • Collaborate with recruiting teams and hiring managers to communicate staffing priorities and ensure client needs are addressed quickly.
  • Help facilitate timely shift placement for new healthcare professionals, ideally within their first two weeks of activation.
  • Support clients throughout the staffing process by providing updates on credentialing, addressing questions, and helping resolve concerns.
  • Encourage contract renewals and extensions by maintaining strong relationships and delivering exceptional service.
  • Maintain accurate client and healthcare professional information within company systems.
  • Support healthcare professional engagement initiatives, including recognition and appreciation programs.
  • Assist with on-call staffing needs as needed.
  • Represent Openwork Health as a brand ambassador by delivering a high level of service and embodying our people-first culture.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A relationship builder who enjoys connecting with people and creating strong partnerships.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust with clients and healthcare professionals.
  • Someone who is proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • A problem solver who takes ownership and follows through.
  • Someone who enjoys a high-volume, fast-paced environment and is motivated by making an impact.
  • Healthcare staffing, recruiting, account management, or customer service experience is preferred but not required. We are looking for someone who brings the right mindset, work ethic, and passion for delivering an exceptional experience.

Why Openwork Health?

At Openwork, we are reimagining the staffing experience by putting people first. We are building a team of professionals who believe relationships matter, service matters, and the work we do makes a difference. Join a company where you can grow your career while helping healthcare professionals and organizations succeed.

About this role

Openwork Health is seeking someone to serve as the primary relationship manager between healthcare clients and medical professionals across a defined territory. You'll balance competing priorities—conducting regular outreach with clients to surface staffing needs, connecting weekly with healthcare professionals about availability and placements, and collaborating with internal recruiting and hiring teams to move opportunities forward quickly. The role centers on understanding what each side needs, solving problems as they arise, and ensuring healthcare professionals land their first assignment within two weeks of joining.

This position suits someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships and thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. You'll need strong communication skills, organizational discipline to manage multiple active accounts simultaneously, and the initiative to follow through on commitments without constant direction. Prior experience in healthcare staffing, recruiting, account management, or customer service is preferred, but Openwork emphasizes mindset and work ethic over a specific background—they're looking for someone who takes ownership of the customer experience and can represent the company's people-first values authentically.

The role is based in Kansas and requires in-office work. You'll receive a competitive base salary plus monthly commissions or bonuses, comprehensive healthcare benefits, generous PTO, and the less common perk of a dog-friendly office. Openwork is privately owned, independent, and has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing staffing companies in the industry, which suggests a growing organization where your contributions will be visible.
