About this role

Millstone Weber, a 100-year-old employee-owned heavy civil contractor, is looking for a summer intern to support its preconstruction and estimating teams on transportation infrastructure projects. You'd work primarily from the St. Charles office alongside senior estimators and engineers, learning the full arc of the bidding process—from reviewing plans and specifications through quantity takeoffs, pricing coordination, and cost compilation for highway, bridge, airfield, rail, and municipal projects. The work spans both office tasks like organizing estimates and subcontractor quotes, and occasional site visits to understand construction means and methods firsthand.

This role suits a civil engineering or construction management student with genuine interest in heavy civil work and strong attention to detail. You'll gain hands-on exposure to industry-standard software like HCSS and Bluebeam while building a foundation in how large infrastructure projects are estimated and pursued. The position requires a valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks for secure facilities, which reflects the federal and aviation work Millstone Weber undertakes.
