About this role
Woolpert's Site Civil Team is looking for a CAD Engineering Technician to produce site layout and grading plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, working from their Charlotte office. You'll move between design work at your desk—developing concept plans and site designs to client specifications—and field responsibilities that include site assessments, pavement evaluations, and occasional overnight travel. The role sits at the intersection of technical drafting and project problem-solving, requiring you to collaborate with project managers to troubleshoot obstacles and deliver reports based on your findings.
To succeed here, you'll need hands-on Civil 3D experience plus either an associate degree, technical certification, or four years of related work. A strong foundation in hydrology and stormwater management is important, as is a valid driver's license with a clean record. Beyond the software skills, Woolpert is looking for someone who can read construction drawings, interpret technical specifications, handle basic geometry and math applications, and communicate clearly both internally and with clients.
The position offers competitive pay between $51,100 and $63,900, along with Woolpert's benefits package: flexible paid time off, health and dental coverage, a retirement plan, and a principal program that lets you eventually become a firm owner. Note that applicants must already have work authorization in the US—visa sponsorship is not available.
