About this role
GD Energy Products, operating under a recently refreshed name but with over 160 years of industry heritage, is seeking an Assembly Mechanic for their Pumpsaint, Wales location. This is a hands-on manufacturing role centered on the complete lifecycle of pump assembly—disassembling, diagnosing performance issues, repairing, and reassembling units to specification. You'll work with precision measuring instruments, perform quality inspections, and occasionally handle welding or grinding work to restore components. The position also involves test cell operations, field assignments with travel, and mentoring newer team members as you build expertise.
The ideal candidate brings industrial maintenance experience, ideally with pumps or similar heavy equipment manufacturing, though strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability matter as much as formal credentials. You'll need to be comfortable working independently under limited supervision, physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds, and detail-oriented enough to catch and document quality issues. High school education is preferred, with vocational training a plus.
GD Energy Products offers competitive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401K matching, paid time off, and disability protection. Be prepared for potential overtime and shift flexibility, and note that the role may occasionally require travel on short notice.
