What's exciting about the role

The Systems Integration Engineer is a technically hands-on, customer-facing role at the heart of how Verifone's payment solutions come to life for our customers. You will guide customers through the full integration journey — from initial implementation and validation through to troubleshooting and issue resolution — across both device and non-device payment integrations.

This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable writing code and talking to customers — a self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving, self-learning environment and takes ownership of outcomes. You will also play an important role in testing new sample code and solutions, light project management for smaller engagements, and leveraging AI tools — including Claude — to improve how we work, document, and deliver.

Responsibilities

Customer Integration & Technical Support

  • Guide customers through the implementation and integration of Verifone payment solutions, covering both device and non-device integrations
  • Support customers through validation processes and troubleshoot technical issues, escalating internally and raising tickets as needed
  • Manage customer expectations effectively, communicating clearly and professionally throughout the integration lifecycle
  • Travel to customer sites as needed (approximately 10–15%) to support integrations and deliver hands-on training on integration methods

Technical Development & Testing

  • Test and evaluate new sample code and solutions as they are developed, providing practical feedback to internal teams
  • Write and review code in Java and/or Kotlin; apply hands-on programming skills to support customer integration work and internal tooling
  • Use REST API programming to build and validate integrations; apply Android development experience where relevant
  • Leverage AI tools — with a specific focus on Claude — for programming tasks, creating skills and tools, generating documentation, and improving workflow efficiency

Project Management & Documentation

  • Project manage smaller integration engagements that do not have formal PMO support, keeping timelines, stakeholders, and deliverables on track
  • Provide and maintain weekly project status updates across all active projects
  • Document issues, resolutions, and integration guidance clearly in Jira, Confluence, and other tools to build a reusable knowledge base

Qualifications

  • Hands-on Java and/or Kotlin programming experience — this is a core requirement for the role
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as integration engineering, technical support, or solutions engineering
  • Ability to work effectively in a self-learning environment, taking ownership of problems and driving them to resolution with minimal supervision
  • Hands-on experience with REST API programming is a strong plus
  • Android device and Android Studio experience is a strong plus
  • Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Git, and Postman is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of Swift, .NET, or Python programming is a plus
  • Demonstrated competence using AI models in a technical context — experience with Claude specifically is highly valued; ability to use AI for coding tasks, documentation, and building tools and skills
  • Strong written communication skills — able to document issues, resolutions, and project status clearly and consistently
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites approximately 10–15% of the time

Our commitment

Verifone is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. About this role

Verifone's Systems Integration Engineer role sits at the intersection of technical delivery and customer success, requiring someone who can write code and guide customers through payment solution implementations with equal confidence. You'll own the full integration lifecycle—from initial setup and validation through troubleshooting and resolution—across device and non-device payment systems, with occasional travel to customer sites (10–15%). This is hands-on work: you'll write Java or Kotlin code, work with REST APIs, test new sample code, and use AI tools like Claude to streamline documentation and development workflows.

The role demands both technical depth and self-direction. You need solid Java or Kotlin programming skills and prior experience in a customer-facing technical role such as integration engineering or solutions engineering. REST API experience and Android development are valuable additions. Beyond coding, you'll manage smaller integration projects independently, maintain clear documentation in Jira and Confluence, and communicate project status consistently. The ability to learn quickly, take ownership of problems, and leverage AI tools effectively will set you apart.

This position suits someone who finds energy in variety—moving between writing code, solving customer problems, and documenting solutions—and who thrives in a fast-paced, self-learning environment without heavy supervision. Verifone emphasizes in-office collaboration in Atlanta, so this is a full-time, location-based role.
