About Parabilis Medicines

Parabilis Medicines is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to creating extraordinary medicines for patients with serious diseases by unlocking biologically important targets long considered undruggable. The company has pioneered a new class of alpha-helical peptides – Helicons™ – capable of modulating intracellular proteins that have historically been beyond the reach of conventional medicines. The company’s lead investigational medicine, zolucatetide, is the first and only direct inhibitor of the β-catenin:TCF interaction, a central node in the Wnt/β-catenin pathway that has eluded drug developers for decades. Zolucatetide is being evaluated in the clinic across multiple Wnt/β-catenin-driven diseases, including desmoid tumors, familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and a range of other solid tumor indications. Beyond zolucatetide, Parabilis is advancing additional Helicon-based programs focused on other challenging targets where we believe our medicines could have life-altering impact. About this role

Parabilis Medicines is building a new class of therapeutics called Helicons—alpha-helical peptides designed to target intracellular proteins previously considered undruggable. As Director of Medicinal Chemistry Synthesis, you would lead the synthetic chemistry strategy for this transformational modality, reporting to the VP of Medicinal Chemistry Synthesis. The role centers on owning the product vision and roadmap for synthesis approaches, including degraders and induced proximity strategies, while translating company strategy into executable plans that advance first-in-class and best-in-class programs toward candidate nomination.

Your day-to-day work involves partnering across research, development, clinical, and business teams to define synthesis requirements and priorities, then working with software engineers and data scientists to scope and deliver solutions—favoring working prototypes and rapid iteration over lengthy planning cycles. You'll drive decisions on where synthetic tools and AI can automate and scale the work of scientists, manage external CRO partnerships, and define success metrics for each initiative. The role demands both creative problem-solving in synthetic route design and pragmatic execution under real timelines.

You'll need a Ph.D. in Chemistry with 10+ years of industry experience, strong expertise in synthetic methodology development and complex small-molecule synthesis, and a track record leading projects. Experience in solid-phase peptide synthesis is preferred. The position requires baseline proficiency with AI tools and the ability to work on-site in Cambridge. The salary range is £200,000–£240,000, plus annual bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
