About this role

East Greenbush Animal Hospital, a well-established five-doctor practice near Albany, is looking for an experienced receptionist ready to step into a leadership role at the front desk. You'd be the welcoming face and operational anchor of the practice, mentoring the client service team while managing scheduling, phone screening, and client communication. This position requires someone who can confidently discuss procedures, anticipate client needs, and maintain composure in a fast-paced veterinary environment where emotions run high and situations change quickly.

The role demands at least two years of veterinary experience and strong leadership skills to guide and coach team members, assist with training, and resolve conflicts. You'll coordinate with doctors, technicians, and management to keep daily workflow smooth, handle invoicing and payment processing accurately, and identify ways to improve both client experience and front desk efficiency. Veterinary software proficiency is valued, though a genuine passion for animal care and excellent communication abilities are essential.

The position offers $25–$29 per hour based on your background, a $1,500 sign-on bonus, and a full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k). You'll work full-time across a six-day schedule (every other Saturday), with hours ranging from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM depending on the day. The hospital is a modern, paperless facility with a collaborative open floor plan designed to support both patient care and staff well-being.
