Responsibilities
Oversee customs clearance processes for local imports, exports and transits
Monitor quality of daily activities and introduce interventions to address non-conformance
Review and approve complex customs declarations and non-fiscal obligations
Establish and manage relationships with key stakeholders - both internal and external
Verify vendor invoices received and ensure timely submission to Finance for payment processing
Assist with both internal and external audits
Plan work schedules and manage team's performance, identify training needs and motivate the team to achieve the department's objectives
Qualifications
What we are looking for
Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in customs brokerage or related field
Excellent knowledge of customs regulations
Experience with Softpak and AI-applications
Experience with HS-code classification, Origin and Customs Value Calculations
Experience with Limited fiscal Representation
Knowledge of Customer KPI/SLA management
Excellent command of English and Dutch; German knowledge is an asset
Experience in supervising/training a team as a plus

The typical salary range for this position is: € 49.329 - € 75.891 (paid on 13-month salaries + holiday allowance).

About this role
APL Logistics is seeking a Supervisor for its Customs Brokerage operation in Rotterdam to lead the oversight of import, export, and transit clearance processes. You would be responsible for monitoring daily activities, reviewing and approving complex customs declarations, managing vendor invoices through to Finance, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations. The role requires establishing strong relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders while supporting both internal and external audits.
This position calls for someone with three to five years of customs brokerage experience who has a solid grasp of HS-code classification, origin determinations, and customs value calculations. Proficiency with Softpak and AI applications is essential, as is knowledge of limited fiscal representation and customer KPI/SLA management. You'll need fluent English and Dutch; German is a bonus. Supervisory experience is valued, as you'll be responsible for planning schedules, managing team performance, identifying training needs, and driving the department toward its objectives.
