Description

We pioneered the Organic SolidFlow battery

CMBlu Energy is on an exciting journey towards becoming a global cleantech company. Our mission is to enable unlimited energy storage modelled on nature - for everyone, worldwide.

What are SolidFlow batteries?

SolidFlow batteries store energy in organic molecules. The absence of explosive materials makes them safe, the use of socially and ecologically conflict-free raw materials makes them sustainable and the almost unlimited availability of materials makes them scalable and cheap to procure. This makes our patented SolidFlow technology a game changer in the development of a global climate-neutral energy system.

From start-up to scale-up: we're tackling it together

CMBlu Energy is developing from a start-up focussing on research into a manufacturing scale-up that is on its way to series production. Around 240 employees are working towards this goal at CMBlu Energy. Our head office is in Alzenau near Frankfurt, with a branch office in Obernburg. There are also subsidiaries in Athens, Greece and Petaluma, USA.

About this role

CMBlu Energy is scaling its Organic SolidFlow battery technology from research into manufacturing, and this Product Owner role sits at the center of that transition. You would own the negolyte development team's backlog, translate company objectives into prioritized technical work, and drive rapid build-measure-learn cycles within an agile framework. The position demands someone who can make data-driven trade-off decisions across performance, stability, manufacturability, and cost while balancing the needs of multiple development teams and ensuring component-level work aligns with overall system design.

The role combines traditional product ownership with deep technical accountability. You'll identify and mitigate scale-up and sourcing risks early, support pilot-scale validation, and contribute to IP strategy including filing patent applications. This is not a pure business product role—it requires a strong technical foundation in electrochemistry, battery systems, or materials development, backed by a doctorate or master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields. Experience in R&D project management or technical program management in complex development environments is essential, as is comfort with agile methods and cross-functional collaboration.

The position is part-time and based in Alzenau, Bavaria, requiring in-office presence. Beyond the role itself, CMBlu offers a Deutschland-Ticket for public transport, a virtual stock option program, subsidized meals on-site, and access to wellness and language-learning platforms. The company values reliability, innovation, and relentlessness, and you'd be contributing directly to the energy transition at a company valued at over one billion euros.
