About this role
Clark Schaefer Hackett is seeking a Senior Manager to lead a client portfolio and manage teams in Cincinnati on a hybrid basis. You would serve as the technical authority for complex accounting engagements—approving financial statements, overseeing workpaper quality, and managing portfolio economics—while building relationships with business owners and external advisors like auditors and tax preparers. This role demands someone who can balance quality standards, client service, and profitability across cleanup, catch-up, and multi-period reconstruction engagements.
The position requires 8–12 years of accounting experience with substantial exposure to after-the-fact, compilation, or outsourced accounting work, plus at least three years leading and developing teams. You'll need an active CPA license (MBA strongly preferred), advanced Excel proficiency, and expert-level knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, and Sage 50. Tax knowledge across 1099 filing, sales and use tax, payroll, and personal property tax is essential, as is the ability to price engagements and manage fee discussions with confidence.
Beyond technical skills, this role suits someone who thrives on team leadership, business development, and direct client relationships. You'll coach Managers, own staffing and capacity planning, and drive growth through service expansion and cross-selling. The firm offers five weeks of PTO plus a shutdown week, comprehensive benefits, hybrid flexibility, and a stated commitment to career development and culture.
