About this role

ISG, a 100% employee-owned engineering and architecture firm, is looking for a Municipal Engineer to lead water systems, wastewater, utilities, and roadway projects from their Des Moines office. You'd serve as the primary client contact on municipal infrastructure work, managing timelines and budgets while coordinating across a multidisciplinary team of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental specialists. The role involves site assessments, technical design work, feasibility studies, permitting coordination, and occasional travel across ISG's five-state footprint—including the option to use the firm's private aircraft when needed.

This position suits someone with a PE license and ideally five years of experience in municipal engineering, project management, and technical team leadership. You'll need proficiency in design software like AutoCAD or Civil 3D, strong communication skills for presenting to clients and agencies, and the ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget. ISG emphasizes collaboration and humility alongside technical competence, so they're looking for someone who prioritizes team success and continuous improvement.

The compensation range is $75,000–$150,000, and the firm offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, profit sharing, an ESOP, and a 401(k). There's also paid parental leave, volunteer time, and various reimbursements for travel and cell phone expenses. As an employee-owned company, you'd have a stake in the firm's success.
