Based in either Charlotte or Durham, North Carolina, you'll work alongside licensed mechanical engineers and professionals from architecture, interiors, and other disciplines, gaining exposure to how integrated teams coordinate throughout the design process—from early concepts through construction administration. The role emphasizes hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design, with Revit MEP as a primary tool, plus opportunities to attend design meetings, visit active construction sites, and participate in the broader project lifecycle.
The internship runs full-time from mid-May through early August 2027 as a paid position within DLR Group's Emerging Professional Experience (EPX) Program. This structure balances technical skill-building with professional development and mentorship.
You'll need at least one year completed in an ABET-accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program and either experience or genuine interest in BIM workflows.
