About this role
Pacific Seafood's Westport dock operation needs experienced equipment operators to manage the receiving and handling of seafood inventory. This seasonal full-time role centers on unloading products from vessels using cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, and other specialized dock equipment while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. You'll need prior hands-on experience operating heavy equipment and knowledge of basic rigging (knots and line splicing), along with familiarity with different seafood species and handling specifications.
The work is physically demanding and takes place in a cold, wet warehouse environment with high noise levels and exposure to hazardous materials. You'll spend sustained periods standing and walking, regularly lifting up to 50 pounds, and communicating clearly with team leads and supervisors about inventory levels and quality issues. The position demands attention to detail—both in equipment operation and in catching product inconsistencies—and a commitment to keeping work areas organized and following safety protocols.
Pacific Seafood offers a compensation package that extends beyond the $17/hour base wage, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), a 401(k) with profit sharing, paid time off, and an employee assistance program. This role suits someone with proven dock or warehouse equipment experience who's comfortable working in cold conditions and values structured safety practices.
