  • Present value propositions to SpaceX management, including those related to contract award, cost reviews, value engineering opportunities, cost reduction strategies, and critical supply issues.
  • Identify and execute cost reduction and value engineering projects including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and project updates for construction categories.

About this role

SpaceX's Starship program needs a sourcing manager to own procurement for the construction services and capital equipment driving facility expansion at Starbase. You'd manage the full lifecycle—from developing bid packages and evaluating contractor proposals through contract negotiation, cost modeling, and closeout—across MEP, civil, structural, and general construction scopes. This role demands someone who can move fast, challenge suppliers on cost and quality, and translate between engineers, contractors, and finance to deliver value.

The ideal candidate brings either an advanced degree plus three years, a bachelor's plus five years, or nine years of direct experience in supply chain, purchasing, contract negotiation, operations, or cost control. Preferred experience includes a construction or contracting background, familiarity with industry codes and standards, and hands-on work through the full procurement cycle. You should be comfortable with construction contract documents, change order management, and managing multiple fast-track projects simultaneously while tracking budgets and identifying cost reductions.

This is a contract position based in Cape Canaveral, requiring in-office presence. The role sits within a procurement organization that explicitly values unconventional thinking and the ability to shape supplier performance—suited for someone who thrives in a high-velocity environment where procurement strategy directly supports a company's core mission.
