About this role
At SpaceX's Starbase facility in Louisiana, this role sits at the center of construction safety for one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects underway. You'd join the EHS team to build and oversee safety programs across the active construction of Starship and site development, working directly with employees and contractors in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment. The work spans program development and compliance audits, contractor management and incident investigation, regulatory interpretation and hands-on site engagement—requiring someone equally comfortable with policy frameworks and real-time problem-solving on active construction sites.
The ideal candidate brings at least five years of construction safety experience, ideally ten or more, with demonstrated ability to lead multi-contractor programs in complex or high-risk settings. You should be skilled in reading design drawings, assessing safety risks in design-build contexts, and fluent in federal and state construction regulations. Practical expertise in fall protection, scaffolding, heavy equipment, excavation, and confined space work is expected. Strong communication and organizational skills matter as much as technical knowledge—this role involves coaching contractors, steering safety reviews, and influencing teams across the site.
This is a contract position requiring in-office presence at Pecan Island, with flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as construction demands. You must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee due to ITAR requirements. Professional certifications like CSP or CHST are preferred, and intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency is required.
