About this role
Leading environmental health and safety at SpaceX's Starship launch facility means owning comprehensive EHS programs for operations at the cutting edge of aerospace—work that hasn't been done before. You'll manage a team of EHS professionals, conduct risk assessments specific to high-rate launch operations, ensure OSHA compliance, and coordinate with site leadership and local response agencies. The role demands someone equally comfortable with industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and process safety who can influence across functions and adapt quickly in a high-change environment.
The ideal candidate brings at least ten years in EHS program design and operations, with five or more years in progressive management roles. A background in aerospace or energy is valuable, as is deep familiarity with industry standards like ASME, NFPA, and RAGAGEP. An engineering degree—particularly in process safety, mechanical, chemical, or systems safety engineering—strengthens your candidacy. You'll need strong command of federal and state regulations, practical knowledge of quality methodologies, and the ability to evaluate complex hazard scenarios like equipment overpressure and reaction risks.
This is an on-site role requiring relocation to Pecan Island, Louisiana, with up to 25% domestic travel and flexibility for extended hours and weekends. U.S. citizenship or equivalent ITAR authorization is required. Candidates must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
