About this role

VIP's Roots Early Education Center is looking for an Assistant Preschool Teacher to work full-time on-site in Colchester, supporting Lead and Licensed Preschool Teachers with preschool-aged children. You'd help design and lead hands-on learning activities—art, music, storytelling, sensory play—while managing classroom routines, transitions, and daily care. The role requires you to foster a safe, nurturing environment where children develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively, and to communicate regularly with families. You'll need to be physically active throughout the day (squatting, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds) and flexible with your schedule as program needs require.

To qualify, you must have at least 12 months of experience working with children ages six and under, plus one of the following: a current CDA credential, completion of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals course, or a three-credit college course in Child Development or Human Development. The role calls for strong teamwork and communication skills, a genuine commitment to child development, and the ability to handle both the rewarding moments and the everyday challenges of preschool work with patience and professionalism.

The position pays $44,720–$46,800 annually and includes comprehensive benefits: BlueCross BlueShield health insurance with vision and dental, 401(k) matching, paid time off, paid parental leave, and paid professional development hours. You'll also have access to an on-site fitness center, discounted gym membership, on-site cafĂ©, and employee health clinic.
