About this role
Hawthorne Cat's Waipahu service operation is looking for a skilled technician to diagnose, repair, and recondition heavy construction and power generation equipment—engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and related components. You'll work under the General Service Manager performing hands-on technical work to Caterpillar and industry standards, using diagnostic testing and precision adjustments to get equipment operational. The role demands strong mechanical troubleshooting ability, proficiency with hand and power tools, and the physical capability to work in a shop and field environment with heavy lifting, climbing, and extended periods in awkward positions.
The position operates on a rotational schedule: 35 days on, 14 days off, with flexibility to work across Hawthorne's Hawaii and Guam branches as needed. You'll need a high school diploma, valid driver's license, PC skills, and your own hand tools; forklift certification is required or must be obtained within 60 days. This is a full-time, non-exempt role at $50 per hour with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and boot reimbursement.
This role suits someone with established diesel or heavy equipment repair experience who's comfortable with the extended on-cycle schedule and willing to relocate among locations. It's a hands-on technical position in a family-owned company with stated emphasis on career growth and training.
