About this role
Belmont Charter Network is seeking a Director of Out-of-School Time (OST) to lead before- and after-school programming across their Philadelphia charter network. This part-time, 12-month position reports to the Network Director of OST and requires someone who can set a coherent vision for daily programming—including summer, professional development days, and holiday breaks—while researching and implementing evidence-based practices like high-dosage tutoring. The role centers on translating Belmont's mission of whole-child support into tangible programming that develops students' academic and life skills.
The position demands strong operational and people leadership. You'll hire, train, and coach part-time staff; manage weekly scheduling; oversee budget planning and grant compliance (including 21st Century Learning Center and PHMC OST grants); and ensure all data, enrollment, and audit requirements are met. You'll also coordinate field trips, assemblies, and parent engagement events while maintaining clear communication with parents, funders, partners, and school leadership. The work is hands-on—attention to detail and follow-through matter as much as big-picture vision.
Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's degree in child development or education, have at least three years directly supervising school-age students, and preferably two years in a supervisory role within after-school or daycare settings. Familiarity with state licensing regulations and OST grant frameworks is valuable. You'll need strong written and verbal communication skills, solid organizational ability, genuine enthusiasm for youth development, and willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends. This role suits someone committed to equity and trauma-informed practice who thrives connecting across differences with students, families, and colleagues.
