Description

About Telnyx

Telnyx is an industry leader that's not just imagining the future of global connectivity—we're building it. From architecting and amplifying the reach of a private, global, multi-cloud IP network, to bringing hyperlocal edge technology right to your fingertips through intuitive APIs, we're shaping a new era of seamless interconnection between people, devices, and applications.

We're driven by a desire to transform and modernize what's antiquated, automate the manual, and solve real-world problems through innovative connectivity solutions. As a testament to our success, we're proud to stand as a financially stable and profitable company. Our robust profitability allows us not only to invest in pioneering technologies but also to foster an environment of continuous learning and growth for our team.

Our collective vision is a world where borderless connectivity fuels limitless innovation. By joining us, you can be part of laying the foundations for this interconnected future. We're currently seeking passionate individuals who are excited about the opportunity to contribute to an industry-shaping company while growing their own skills and careers.

What you'll do

- Design and build the Go services behind our serverless platform, function deployment pipeline, and global control plane.
- Own backend and control-plane software, from customer-facing APIs and resource lifecycles to services that deploy and manage workloads across our edge infrastructure.
- Make the platform great to use: clean APIs, a sharp CLI, predictable behaviour, and useful error messages. Developer experience is a feature, not an afterthought.
- Build reliable workflows for deployments, configuration, storage, and observability. Handle the retries, state, and failure cases that come with operations spanning multiple services and data centres.
- Work with Kubernetes and our runtime infrastructure through the control plane, and help diagnose latency, throughput, and reliability issues across the platform.
- Build tooling that helps us operate safely at scale. Participate in on-call for the systems you build.

What we're looking for

- 2–5 years of professional backend software development experience.
- Proficiency in Go, or strong experience in a comparable backend language (Rust, Java, C++) and an interest in writing Go day-to-day.
- Solid distributed systems fundamentals. You've debugged service-to-service problems in production and understand retries, partial failures, and idempotency.
- Comfort designing APIs and resource models that other engineers will actually use.
- Experience with relational databases, including schemas, transactions, and migrations.
- Experience building asynchronous systems using queues, background jobs, state machines, or similar patterns.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes and an interest in building software that deploys and manages workloads on Kubernetes-based infrastructure.
- Experience running highly available services, including being on-call.

Bonus points for

- Experience building developer tools, platforms, control planes, runtimes, or other products for developers.
- Experience building software that interacts with Kubernetes, such as controllers, operators, or deployment systems.
- Familiarity with serverless or edge-compute platforms (Cloudflare Workers, Fastly Compute, Lambda, Fly.io, Deno Deploy, etc.).
- Experience with technologies in our stack such as Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, NATS/JetStream, Knative, or Dapr.
- Experience operating software across multiple regions or data centres.
- Open source contributions, particularly in the Go ecosystem.

About this role

Telnyx is building backend infrastructure for a serverless edge-computing platform, and this role puts you at the center of that work. You'd design and own the Go services powering the control plane, deployment pipeline, and APIs that developers use to run functions globally. The work spans the full stack: customer-facing API design, resource lifecycle management, multi-region deployment workflows, and the operational tooling needed to run reliably across distributed infrastructure. You'd also participate in on-call for the systems you build.

This is a fit if you have 2–5 years of backend experience and either write Go professionally or have solid chops in Rust, Java, or C++ and want to use Go daily. You'll need distributed systems thinking—the kind that comes from debugging production service-to-service failures and understanding retries, partial failures, and state management. Database experience (schemas, transactions, migrations) and hands-on work with asynchronous patterns (queues, state machines, background jobs) are expected. Kubernetes knowledge is required; experience building software that deploys or manages workloads on Kubernetes is a strong plus.

If you've built developer tools, platforms, or control planes before, or worked on serverless or edge platforms, you're exactly who they're looking for. Familiarity with their stack (PostgreSQL, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, NATS, Knative, Dapr) or multi-region operations is a bonus. The role is full-time, in-office in Amsterdam.
