Description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars.

Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. About this role

Xai's data center operations team in Southaven needs someone to own the reliability and performance of their server and network infrastructure across multiple facilities. As Lead Data Center Technician, you'll manage everything from initial site construction through ongoing maintenance—racking and stacking equipment, troubleshooting hardware failures, managing inventory, and handling fiber optic and power cabling. Your core focus will be driving down mean time to detect and mean time to repair, which means you'll need to understand the full stack of equipment you're supporting and be willing to respond to emergencies outside standard hours.

This role demands at least five years of hands-on experience with server, storage, and networking hardware, plus proven ability to troubleshoot and repair infrastructure at scale. You should be comfortable in tight spaces, able to lift 35 pounds regularly, and willing to work at heights with proper safety gear. Linux proficiency is preferred, along with structured cabling and data center power and cooling knowledge. The position requires flexibility with scheduling, on-call availability, and a detail-oriented approach to documentation and asset management using internal systems like Jira.

You'll report to the job site during construction phases, coordinate cross-functionally with engineering and provisioning teams, and manage vendor relationships for warranty returns. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, learns quickly, and takes ownership of infrastructure health metrics.
