About this role

This role manages financial operations across the University of Tennessee at Martin's dental clinics and academic programs in Memphis. You'll own the full accounting cycle—from annual budget development and monthly financial reporting to daily general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and payroll oversight. The position requires you to work across multiple systems (AxiUm, Banner, Oracle Financials, Power BI, Cognos) to generate clinic production reports, revenue analyses, and interactive dashboards that drive operational decisions for clinic directors and department leadership.

The role demands strong technical accounting skills and familiarity with federal grant compliance (Uniform Guidance, NIH, HRSA). You'll partner with faculty and the Sponsored Programs Office on grant budgeting and cost-sharing, negotiate budget revisions with university finance, and design internal controls for cash handling and revenue cycles. You'll also supervise a team of accounting and clerical staff, develop financial policies and procedures, and present complex financial data to senior stakeholders.

This is a fit for someone with at least four years of financial management or accounting experience (or equivalent combined education and experience), solid knowledge of fund accounting and GAAP, and hands-on expertise with dental clinic workflows and AxiUm. You should be comfortable leading teams, modeling financial scenarios, and moving between strategic planning and operational detail.
