Description

At SimPL Freight Solutions, we simplify transportation for companies that move a lot of freight but don’t want the headache of managing it all themselves. We step in as their transportation team - coordinating shipments, managing carrier relationships, tracking performance, and improving how everything runs behind the scenes.

Our customers range from large manufacturers to high-volume distributors across industries like automotive, building materials, food, and packaging. No matter the industry, the goal is the same: keep freight moving smoothly, efficiently, and without surprises.

We pride ourselves on being proactive, responsive, and accountable - anticipating issues, communicating clearly, and continuously finding better ways to deliver results.

Job Type: Full-Time
Hours: M-F, 8am-5pm
Location: On-site, Raleigh, NC

Starting January 2027

At SimPL, we believe great salespeople are developed, not born. That's why we've built a structured training program designed to give you the knowledge, coaching, and hands-on experience needed to succeed in enterprise sales. From day one, you'll work alongside experienced operations and sales leaders who are invested in your success. You'll receive ongoing mentorship, develop real-world sales skills, and learn how to build relationships with executives at some of the country's leading manufacturers and distributors.

If you're driven, coachable, and ready to grow, you'll find a team that's just as invested in your success as you are.
We pride ourselves on being proactive, responsive, and accountable - anticipating issues, communicating clearly, and continuously finding better ways to deliver results.

What the job actually is

You'll research companies that fit our ideal customer profile, call the people who run logistics and supply chain at those companies, and book discovery meetings for our sales team. This is a phone-first role you'll spend most of your day on outbound calls.

But here's the difference: no script-reading, no spray-and-pray. We train you to sound like a curious researcher, not a salesperson working an angle, because that's genuinely how we sell. You'll learn about the freight industry, learn how executives think about transportation costs, and learn a consultative approach you can build an entire career on.

What your first 90 days look like

  • Week 1: Learning the business. You'll learn how freight works, who our customers are, and why they buy before you ever pick up the phone.
  • Weeks 2–8: A structured ramp with daily coaching. Live call shadowing, role-plays, and a written benchmark for what "on track" looks like at every stage. You will always know where you stand.
  • Week 9 and beyond: Running a full, independent daily cadence with weekly 1:1 coaching. This is a real ramp, not sink-or-swim.

You'll work directly with our senior leadership and sales team throughout. They run the discovery meetings you book, which means you get immediate, honest feedback on the quality of your work, and a front-row seat to how enterprise deals get done.

What we're looking for

  • HS Diploma or GED required (College degree a plus)
  • You take feedback well, and change what you do with it
  • You don't rattle easily. Hearing "no" doesn't ruin your day
  • You're genuinely curious, you ask more questions than you answer
  • You can explain complicated things in plain language
  • You have the discipline to show up and do the work consistently, without someone standing over you
  • Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, LinkedIn is a plus but not required

That's the whole list. If you've done customer-facing work before, great, but we care far more about who you are than what's on your resume.

Compensation & benefits

  • $50,000 base salary + uncapped monthly performance incentives ($60K on-target in year one, with top performers exceeding that).
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company match, 15 PTO days + 9 paid holidays, and a menu of voluntary coverage options.
  • A ground-floor seat on a team we're building deliberately, with real advancement as it grows.
  • Happy hours, holiday parties, volunteer opportunities, and on-site visits to customer locations.

The hiring process

Fast and respectful of your time: a 30-minute phone screen, then a panel interview that includes a short live role-play - with a decision shortly after. We'll never leave you guessing where you stand.

About this role

SimPL Freight Solutions is hiring an SDR to build their sales development function from the ground up. You'll spend most of your day on outbound calls to logistics and supply chain executives at manufacturers and distributors, researching prospects that fit their ideal customer profile and booking discovery meetings for the sales team. The role is structured around learning—not just about sales technique, but about how the freight industry actually works and how enterprise customers think about transportation challenges. You'll work without a script, trained instead to ask genuine questions and communicate like a consultant rather than a typical SDR.

The first 90 days follow a deliberate ramp: week one is pure business education, weeks two through eight pair daily coaching with live call shadowing and role-plays so you always know where you stand, and week nine onward you run independently with weekly 1:1s. You'll get immediate feedback because the senior sales team runs the meetings you book, giving you a front-row seat to how deals actually close. The company is explicit that they develop salespeople intentionally—this isn't a sink-or-swim environment.

SimPL is looking for coachability, resilience, genuine curiosity, and the discipline to work consistently without supervision. A high school diploma is the baseline; a college degree is a plus. Prior customer-facing experience helps but isn't required. The role pays $50,000 base plus uncapped monthly performance incentives (on-target $60K in year one), full benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, and 15 PTO days plus nine paid holidays. It's full-time, on-site in Raleigh, Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm, starting January 2027.
