About this role

Atlas Air's AOG Travel Mechanic role is a hands-on position based in Miami that combines routine maintenance work at the company's hub with emergency field repairs across its global operations. You'll troubleshoot and repair Boeing cargo aircraft (primarily 767, 777, and 747 models), lead inspections, mentor junior mechanics, and coordinate materials and tooling for daily operations. The work demands expertise with advanced avionics and engine systems, proficiency reading technical documentation, and comfort working variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays—plus regular travel for aircraft-on-ground (AOG) recovery without restrictions.

This contract role suits experienced aircraft maintenance technicians with at least five years on transport-category aircraft, an FAA A&P certificate, and specific qualifications on the aircraft types Atlas operates. You'll need bore scope certification on major engine types and unrestricted engine run authorization. The hybrid arrangement and Miami location provide some stability, though the job's core appeal is for someone who thrives in fast-paced technical troubleshooting and doesn't mind being called out for urgent repairs. The salary range of $94,000 to $126,500 reflects the specialized expertise and travel demands required.
