POSITION SUMMARY
We're on a mission to reinvent the financial system and make it work for people. We are looking for an experienced professional to lead a full-stack engineering team comprising backend and mobile engineers. As a hands-on Tech Lead Manager for one of our core services teams, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the design and development of some of our early-stage, innovative products. You will work with your cross-functional partners and team to shape the direction of these products and help make them significant drivers for the company.

This position is a hybrid role based in our Bengaluru office, with 2 days a week in the office as part of our expanding site. EarnIn offers excellent benefits, including healthcare, internet/cell phone reimbursement, a learning and development stipend, and potential opportunities to travel to our Mountain View HQ. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Partner closely with product and other engineering teams to improve business metrics and build new features. Examples include improving user acquisition metrics, cross-selling and upselling products, and improving user experience.
  • Drive the design and implementation of new product areas and features. Break complex problems down to their bare essentials, translate that complexity into elegant design, and create high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Guide your team through ambiguity and ensure technical excellence through rapid experimentation cycles.
  • Guide your team to strong execution—make pragmatic decisions, help them launch MVPs quickly, and iterate based on feedback.
  • Lead your team through frequent pivots and evolving priorities in a fast-changing environment.
  • Recruit other great engineers for your team and support recruiting efforts across teams.
  • Mentor and coach the engineers on your team. Help them advance their careers by enabling them to do the best work of their lives.
  • Manage cross-functional relationships with all teams to deliver high-quality products.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading a small team as a manager or tech lead manager
  • You're just as energized diving into architecture, writing clean, scalable code, and solving challenging technical problems as you are mentoring engineers, shaping team culture, and driving delivery. You know when to roll up your sleeves and when to empower others—and you're equally excited to do both.
  • You can work comfortably with a cross-functional team of PMs, Analysts, and mobile and back-end-focused engineers.
  • You have led a team that consistently delivered high-quality output on critical infrastructure projects.
  • You are a creative, tenacious problem solver with a get-it-done attitude
  • You tend to be the standard bearer who takes a great deal of pride in your work and can inspire others to rise to the occasion
  • You can create and maintain a positive, healthy team environment in which everyone is supported, encouraged, and meaningfully challenged to do great work
  • Preferred tech skills: C#, .NET/.NET Core, Kotlin, Python, SQL, Databricks, AWS,  REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, Kafka, CI/CD, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native development.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, or similar tools) as part of your software development workflow
  • Experience in fintech is a plus.
  • Experience leading the design, implementation, and deployment of high-scale cross-functional payments systems.

About this role

EarnIn is seeking a hands-on Tech Lead Manager to lead a full-stack engineering team building core financial products for their earned wage access platform. You'll split your time between Bengaluru (2 days weekly in office) and remote work, partnering with product and cross-functional teams to design new features, improve user acquisition and retention metrics, and drive rapid iteration cycles. The role demands equal comfort with deep technical work—architecture, code quality, solving complex problems—and people leadership: mentoring engineers, shaping team culture, recruiting talent, and guiding execution through ambiguity and frequent pivots.

You'll need at least 7 years of software engineering experience with 2+ years managing or tech-leading a small team. A computer science degree or equivalent is required. The ideal candidate combines creative problem-solving with high standards for quality, thrives in cross-functional environments, and can both roll up their sleeves to code and empower others to do their best work. Preferred skills include C#, .NET, Kotlin, Python, microservices, distributed systems, Kafka, and cloud infrastructure; fintech experience and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools are bonuses.

EarnIn offers healthcare, learning and development stipends, internet and cell phone reimbursement, and potential travel to their Mountain View headquarters. The company is well-funded and growing, with a leadership team and investor base that includes A16Z and Ribbit Capital.
