About this role
Flexential operates 24/7 data centers and needs someone to keep the lights on—literally. As a Critical Infrastructure Engineer II in Richmond, you'd own the preventative and corrective maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems across assigned facilities, working toward the demanding 99.999% uptime standard that customer SLAs require. The role blends hands-on technical work with coordination: you'll manage vendor relationships, document procedures, train Data Center Technicians, oversee change windows, and respond to on-call emergencies outside normal business hours.
This position suits someone with at least two years of data center experience and four or more years troubleshooting critical infrastructure. You need solid grounding in building automation and the specific systems that keep data centers running—generators, UPS units, chillers, PDUs, switchgear, and air handling equipment. Military or trade certifications strengthen your candidacy, as does an electrical or mechanical degree. The work is hands-on and sometimes uncomfortable: you'll climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, work in temperature extremes, and navigate electrical and mechanical hazards.
The position pays $30–$37.50 hourly depending on your background and includes standard benefits covering medical, dental, vision, 401(k), disability, and flexible PTO. The role is in-office in Richmond and requires a valid driver's license for occasional travel. Keep in mind that Flexential has specific state employment restrictions, so verify your residency eligibility before applying.
