About this role
Friendship Hospital for Animals is building a new Dentistry & Oral Surgery Service from the ground up, and they're looking for a board-certified veterinary dentist to lead it. This is a rare opportunity to design your own program—from scheduling and equipment selection to team composition and clinical protocols—rather than stepping into an established role. You'd work in a recently expanded 30,000+ sq. ft. facility with in-house CT/MRI imaging, dedicated specialty suites, and strong perioperative support from board-certified anesthesiologists and critical care specialists.
Your day-to-day work would span comprehensive oral diagnostics, advanced endodontics, restorative dentistry, periodontal therapy, trauma management, and maxillofacial oncologic surgery. You'd collaborate across Anesthesia, Oncology, Surgery, and Critical Care to handle medically complex cases, and you'd mentor interns, technicians, and primary care clinicians while establishing service standards. The role comes with a built-in referral pipeline from FHA's internal primary care, emergency, and specialty services, plus an established network across the Washington, DC metro area.
This role suits someone with demonstrated excellence in advanced oral surgery and strong interpersonal skills who also has entrepreneurial drive—someone energized by building something new rather than maintaining status quo. You'll need AVDC board certification (or board-eligible status with a clear certification timeline), a DVM/VMD, and DC veterinary licensure. The position is full-time, in-office, and backed by EVG Specialty Network's support for compensation, benefits, and relocation.
