Description
- Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
- Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
- Directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
- Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
Qualifications
Licensure / Certification / Registration- Required Credential(s):
- Certified Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- One or more of the following:
- Certified Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Certified BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

About this role
Ascension is seeking a Registered Nurse CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) traveler for a full-time position in Austin, Texas. This role combines scrub and circulating nursing responsibilities in a surgical setting, requiring you to manage instruments and supplies, monitor patient condition throughout procedures, assist the operating physician with technical tasks like hemostasis and suturing, and prepare operating rooms and equipment. You'll be responsible for comprehensive patient care before, during, and after surgery, working as a key member of the surgical team.
To qualify, you must hold current RN licensure and a nursing diploma or degree from an accredited program. You'll also need BLS certification within 30 days of your start date and either ALS or ACLS certification within 180 days, both from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. This is a travel position within Ascension, a large nonprofit Catholic health system recognized for workplace culture and support. The role is based on-site in Austin with no remote component.
