Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) Developer & Partner Manager to take end-to-end ownership of the platform's development lifecycle, technical architecture, and project delivery.

This is a hybrid, hands-on role combining advanced D365 F&O development with technical project management and external implementation partner coordination. The ideal candidate must be capable of independently managing business requirements, designing technical solutions, developing customizations and integrations, overseeing deployments, and ensuring successful project delivery with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate will serve as both the technical lead and hands-on developer, bridging business stakeholders, implementation partners, and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End Project Ownership

  • Lead the complete project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, business process analysis, gap analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.

  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and implementation plans.

  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.

  • Drive issue resolution and ensure high-quality, timely delivery.

2. D365 F&O Development and Architecture

  • Develop, customize, and maintain Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations solutions using X++.

  • Design and implement extensions, custom business logic, data entities, and system enhancements.

  • Develop and maintain integrations using APIs, OData, REST, and other appropriate integration technologies.

  • Work with D365 F&O application architecture, data models, and system components to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.

  • Perform debugging, troubleshooting, code reviews, performance optimization, and technical issue resolution.

  • Support data migration, validation, testing, deployment, and production stabilization activities.

3. Technical Project and Partner Management

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for implementation partners, business stakeholders, and internal teams.

  • Manage partner deliverables, technical dependencies, milestones, and quality expectations.

  • Evaluate partner-proposed solutions and ensure alignment with D365 F&O architecture and business requirements.

  • Independently execute hands-on development while coordinating project-level activities.

  • Communicate technical risks, progress, and recommendations to stakeholders.

4. Azure DevOps (ADO) Management

  • Manage Azure DevOps for development and release activities.

  • Oversee sprint planning, backlog grooming, work item tracking, and development prioritization.

  • Manage source control, code repositories, branching strategies, and version control.

  • Configure and maintain build and release pipelines, deployment tracking, and release management processes.

  • Coordinate code promotion across development, testing, and production environments.

5. Testing, Deployment, and Support

  • Develop and support unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, and regression testing.

  • Coordinate deployments and ensure release readiness.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide post-go-live support.

  • Maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and solution design documents.

  • Follow development standards, security requirements, and best practices for enterprise-grade solutions.

Mandatory Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must demonstrate strong hands-on experience in the following areas:

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations: Deep technical expertise in D365 F&O development and customization.

  • X++ Development: Strong hands-on coding experience with X++, including extensions, custom business logic, debugging, and troubleshooting.

  • D365 F&O Architecture: Understanding of application architecture, data models, system components, and solution design.

  • Integrations and APIs: Experience developing and supporting integrations using REST APIs, OData, data entities, and related integration mechanisms.

  • Azure DevOps (ADO): Practical experience managing repositories, branching strategies, sprint planning, backlogs, build/release pipelines, and deployments.

  • End-to-End Delivery: Proven experience taking D365 F&O initiatives from requirements gathering and technical design through development, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.

  • Project and Partner Management: Experience coordinating implementation partners, managing deliverables, translating business needs into technical solutions, and driving technical decisions.

  • Independent Execution: Ability to operate autonomously, prioritize tasks, resolve complex technical issues, and deliver with minimal supervision.

  • Communication and Stakeholder Management: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading enterprise D365 F&O implementations or major enhancements.

  • Experience with data migration, environment management, and production support.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft cloud technologies and the broader Dynamics 365 ecosystem.

  • Experience managing external implementation vendors or systems integrators.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

Work Arrangement

  • Primarily remote engagement.

  • Must be available for occasional travel to Philadelphia, PA, as required.

  • Expected engagement duration of 6+ months.

  • Must be comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical delivery from end to end.

About this role

New Era Technology is looking for a seasoned D365 F&O developer who can own projects from end to end—not just write code, but also manage the technical strategy, coordinate with implementation partners, and drive delivery. This hybrid contract role (6+ months, primarily remote with occasional travel to Philadelphia) combines hands-on development in X++ with project leadership and stakeholder management. You'll be the technical lead bridging business requirements, partner teams, and internal stakeholders, responsible for everything from requirements analysis and solution design through deployment and post-go-live support.

The role demands deep expertise across the full D365 F&O stack: X++ development, integrations (REST, OData, APIs), Azure DevOps pipeline management, and application architecture. You'll independently execute development work while overseeing sprint planning, code promotion, testing strategies, and release management. This is not a pure coding position—you need proven experience managing partners, translating business needs into technical solutions, and driving decisions with minimal supervision. Strong communication and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues autonomously are essential.

If you thrive as a technical owner who can code and lead simultaneously, and you have the D365 F&O and ADO experience to back it up, this could be a strong fit. The contract structure and remote-first arrangement offer flexibility, though the role's scope is substantial and expects you to operate independently across multiple dimensions of delivery.
