About this role

Leading hotel operations at The Ritz-Carlton's Des Moines property means overseeing the strategic and financial performance of multiple departments—potentially Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, Engineering, and Recreation—while ensuring the brand's service standards are consistently met. You'd work directly with department heads to develop operational strategies aligned with business goals, monitor performance against budget, manage revenue and expense targets, and hold teams accountable for results. This is fundamentally a role about translating brand vision into daily execution across a complex property.

The position requires balancing guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and profitability. You'll analyze service trends, respond to guest feedback, stay visible on the property, and foster a culture where staff understand how their work connects to guest outcomes. Managing wage budgets, coaching leaders through performance issues, and ensuring fair and consistent application of policies are core responsibilities. You'll also champion brand initiatives and regional business changes across the leadership team.

The role calls for either a four-year degree in hospitality or business with two years of relevant experience, or a two-year degree with four years in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, sales, or operations. Success here depends on operational acumen, financial literacy, and the ability to lead and develop department heads while maintaining visibility with guests and staff.
