Description

Team Summary

We are a small frontend team building a web platform for ML data annotation. Our frontend work is an active balance of greenfield feature development and the continuous evolution of our established data-annotation tools. Whether architecting a new visual editor from scratch or modernizing an existing codebase, we hold all work to the same standard: architecture docs as the source of truth, small reviewed PRs, strict linting/type checks a dedicated component book for every UI element, and an AI-assisted workflow.

Job Summary

We are looking for an intern with solid TypeScript fundamentals who is eager to learn Svelte and modern frontend conventions. In this role you'll start with well-scoped tasks: UI components, component book entries, tests, small bug fixes in legacy projects under a mentor's review, and grow toward owning small features end to end. You will work with a modern stack (Svelte 5, TypeScript, Tailwind, Bun), practice AI-assisted development as a standard workflow, and ship to production behind strict quality gates in a team small enough for your work to make an immediate impact.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Implement small UI components and pages in Svelte 5 / TypeScript following the design system
  • Add component book entries and write unit/browser tests for new and existing components
  • Fix well-scoped bugs in the new platform and in legacy projects
  • Integrate simple REST endpoints under guidance
  • Participate in code review (receive feedback, and gradually review others' PRs)
  • Keep type checks, lint and tests green on your changes
  • Improve documentation and conventions where you find gaps
  • Learn and apply AI-assisted development responsibly

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience and/or a GitHub profile with pet projects available for the team review
  • Solid TypeScript fundamentals
  • HTML/CSS knowledge
  • Familiarity with at least one modern frontend framework (any — Svelte, React, Vue)
  • Good understanding of client-server communication
  • Git basics
  • Ability to understand technical documentation and follow engineering guidelines
  • Good written and spoken English (preferably B1+)

Nice to have

  • Solid knowledge of Svelte/SvelteKit and Tailwind
  • Experience with unit testing (Vitest/Jest)
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted workflows

We offer multiple benefits that include

  • The environment of equal opportunities, transparent and value-based corporate culture, and an individual approach to each team member
  • Competitive compensation and perks
  • Gig-contract (6 months)
  • 21 paid vacation days per year, paid public holidays according to Ukrainian legislation
  • Medical insurance is provided from day one. Sick leaves and medical leaves are available
  • Remote working mode is available within Ukraine only
  • Free meals, fruits, and snacks when working in the office.

Benefits

  • health insurance

About this role

SQUAD's frontend team is building web tools for ML data annotation, and they're looking for an intern who can grow from structured tasks into owning small features end to end. You'd start with well-defined work—UI components, tests, bug fixes in both new and legacy codebases—all under mentor review. The team operates with high standards: architecture docs, strict type checking, small reviewed PRs, and a dedicated component library. You'll work with a modern stack (Svelte 5, TypeScript, Tailwind, Bun) and learn to use AI-assisted development as part of your daily workflow.

This role suits someone with solid TypeScript fundamentals and at least a year of frontend experience (or a portfolio of pet projects). You should know HTML/CSS and have worked with at least one modern framework; Svelte experience is a plus but not required. The team is small enough that your contributions will have immediate impact, and you'll participate in code review from day one—first receiving feedback, then gradually reviewing others' work. You'll need good written and spoken English and the ability to follow technical documentation carefully.

The position is a six-month gig contract based in Kyiv, available as remote work within Ukraine. You'll receive 21 paid vacation days, medical insurance from day one, paid public holidays, and free meals and snacks when in the office.
