Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
Location: Hybrid - This role could be based from our Edinburgh, London or Birmingham offices with time spent working from home and from the office.

The role
We have an incredible opportunity to join us as Senior Investment Analyst in our Policyholder Investment Office team. The Policyholder Investment Office is responsible for £240bn of customer money. This is a key role in the team, responsible for portfolio management of Policyholder Funds, covering all aspects of investment, operations, stakeholder management, stewardship and development.
Key responsibilities
Asset Allocation oversight and Implementation
Performance monitoring of Multi Asset funds
Supporting the development of new Multi Asset propositions
Providing input to senior governance forums covering all aspects of Multi Asset Portfolio Management, oversight, monitoring and implementation
Stakeholder management across internal and external parties
What are we looking for?
In depth knowledge and experience of Multi Asset portfolio management including SAA implementation and SAA monitoring.
In-depth knowledge and experience of investment markets, investment strategy and fund management methodologies, gained in the asset management industry or Life company Investment Office.
Understanding of all aspects of investment management, investment operations, regulatory environment, evolution, policyholder outcomes and product types.
Experience and knowledge of investment management operating models, fund structures and asset classes including; equities, fixed income and alternatives (illiquids) and their application in Policyholder funds and products.
In-depth knowledge and experience of policyholder (Asset Owner) fund governance, coupled with a broad understanding of the legal, tax and regulatory environment.
Additional / Desirable
Experience of Aladdin, by BlackRock, would be beneficial.
Industry recognised investment qualifications such as CFA/CAIA/IMC

About this role
Standard Life's Policyholder Investment Office manages £240 billion in customer assets, and this Senior Investment Analyst role sits at the centre of that responsibility. You'd oversee asset allocation and implementation across Multi Asset funds, monitor performance, support the development of new propositions, and feed into senior governance forums. The work spans investment strategy, operations, stakeholder management and stewardship—touching every dimension of how policyholder money is managed and deployed.
The role demands deep expertise in Multi Asset portfolio management, including Strategic Asset Allocation implementation and monitoring. You'll need substantial experience in investment markets, fund management methodologies and investment operations, typically built in asset management firms or Life company investment offices. Knowledge of asset classes—equities, fixed income and alternatives—and how they function within policyholder products is essential, as is familiarity with asset owner governance, legal frameworks and the regulatory landscape. Experience with BlackRock's Aladdin platform and qualifications like CFA, CAIA or IMC would strengthen your candidacy.
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract offered on a part-time basis from Standard Life's Birmingham, Edinburgh or London offices on a hybrid arrangement. The salary starts from £60,000 depending on experience, plus bonus, alongside private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, an excellent pension, life assurance and other benefits.
