Description

DeterTech's purpose is giving greater peace of mind to people and communities, every day, and clear, well-documented solutions are how we make sure our Salesforce platform keeps pace with the business. This role supports the Salesforce Technical Lead by turning conversations and requirements into properly analysed and documented solutions, while also being hands-on enough to contribute directly to configuration and build.

This is not a purely functional Business Analyst role: you'll be comfortable moving between stakeholder conversations, solution documentation and hands-on Salesforce configuration, giving the Technical Lead more time to focus on the areas where specialist technical input matters most.

ABOUT DETERTECH

DeterTech is a security technology company operating across six countries, with principal UK sites in Prestwick and Telford. We predict, deter and detect risk on behalf of the people and communities we serve. Our values – Committed, Inclusive and Ambitious – shape how we work every day: we are accountable and deliver excellence; we collaborate and build trust; and we never stop learning while winning in the right way.

This is a remote role, although we value regular face-to-face collaboration. We would ideally like someone who can attend our Telford office around once a week if based locally, or a couple of office visits per month for those based further afield.

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirements and discovery

•     Gather requirements through stakeholder interviews and workshops.

•     Support the Salesforce Technical Lead during discovery and design.

•     Partner closely with BPO stakeholders (including Sales, Customer Success, Field Operations, and Finance) to understand their day-to-day challenges, operational bottlenecks, and strategic needs.

•     Facilitate process discovery workshops to map out processes and collaborate with the Technical Lead to define efficient, scalable future-state ('to-be') solutions.

2. Analysis and documentation

•     Produce clear process maps, requirements documentation and solution designs.

•     Translate business requirements into Salesforce functional/technical requirements.

•     Independently follow up with stakeholders to close gaps and ambiguities.

•     Write well-structured, detailed user stories in Jira, complete with clear business value statements, functional specifications, wireframes or mock-ups where helpful, and unambiguous acceptance criteria.

•     Work closely with the Technical Delivery Manager during backlog refinement and sprint planning to ensure stories meet the team's 'Definition of Ready' before entering active development sprints.

3. Hands-on configuration

•     Build appropriate elements of agreed solutions directly within Salesforce.

•     Support testing and validation of delivered solutions alongside the QA/Test Analyst.

•     Deliver configuration and lightweight automations (such as custom fields, page layouts, record types, validation rules, and straightforward Salesforce Flows), freeing the Technical Lead and Senior Administrator for complex architecture and deep technical build.

•     Collaborate with the QA / Test Analyst to walk through user stories, clarify expected behaviour and edge cases, and assist with functional validation in sandboxes prior to release.

•     Partner with the Senior Salesforce Administrator to prepare change communications, end-user guidance, and support materials to drive smooth user adoption.

4. Solution governance and continuous improvement

•     Work within the architectural guardrails, data model standards, and best practices established by the Salesforce Technical Lead, avoiding over-customisation or technical debt.

•     Regularly review system adoption, gathering user feedback after releases to identify opportunities to simplify workflows and improve the user experience.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

•     Proven requirements gathering and stakeholder interviewing skills.

•     Excellent process mapping, requirements and solution documentation skills.

•     Able to independently follow up with stakeholders to close gaps and ambiguities.

•     Able to translate business requirements into Salesforce functional/technical requirements.

•     Hands-on Salesforce configuration capability – this role needs to build, not just document.

•     Comfortable supporting the Technical Lead during discovery and design.

•     Experience working as a Business Analyst, Solution Analyst, or functional consultant within a Salesforce environment.

•     Hands-on ability to configure core Salesforce elements (custom objects, fields, validation rules, record types, and basic Flows).

•     Experience writing clear user stories with formal acceptance criteria within an Agile team.

•     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging with operational users as well as technical developers and delivery managers.

Desirable

•     Salesforce Administrator or Business Analyst certification.

•     Experience working in a multi-country or matrix organisation.

•     Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Field Service.

•     Understanding of how Salesforce integrates with other enterprise systems (such as ERP, finance systems, or customer portals) via middleware like MuleSoft.

We are committed to creating an inclusive recruitment process. If you require any reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know and we will be happy to support you.

About this role

DeterTech, a security technology company operating across six countries, is looking for someone who can bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical delivery on their Salesforce platform. This role sits between the Salesforce Technical Lead and the wider business, taking requirements from conversations with Sales, Customer Success, Field Operations, and Finance teams, then turning them into clear documentation, user stories, and hands-on configuration work. You'll move fluidly between stakeholder workshops, writing detailed specifications in Jira, and building lightweight Salesforce solutions directly—custom fields, page layouts, record types, validation rules, and straightforward Flows. The goal is to free up the Technical Lead to focus on complex architecture while you handle the functional delivery and stakeholder follow-up that keeps projects moving.

You'll need proven experience as a Business Analyst or Solution Analyst in a Salesforce environment, with genuine hands-on configuration skills, not just documentation ability. Strong requirements gathering, process mapping, and stakeholder management are essential, as is the ability to translate business needs into Salesforce functional requirements and write clear user stories with acceptance criteria for an Agile team. Salesforce certifications and experience with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or other Salesforce products are desirable but not required; familiarity with enterprise system integrations via tools like MuleSoft is a bonus.

This is a remote role based in the UK and Ireland, with an expectation of attending the Telford office around once weekly if local, or a couple of times monthly if based further away. The salary is £50,000–£60,000 for a full-time position.
