About this role
The Nursing and Midwifery Council's Education Concerns Team investigates risks and issues affecting the quality of nursing, midwifery and nursing associate education across the UK. As an Education Concerns Officer, you would lead investigations into concerns raised about approved education providers, assess risks to students and public protection, and work with universities and internal stakeholders to gather evidence and determine appropriate actions. This is regulatory work with real impact—your investigations directly shape the oversight of healthcare education and ultimately protect future patients.
The role calls for someone analytical and naturally inquisitive who can handle complex casework with sound judgment and professionalism. You'll need strong investigative and risk assessment skills, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to engage senior leaders and manage sensitive conversations. Background in regulation, healthcare, investigations, complaints management, quality assurance or higher education is valuable, though strong case management or investigative experience from other sectors is also welcome. You'll prepare reports and recommendations for governance decisions, identify emerging trends, and contribute to improving the team's processes as the function evolves.
The position is hybrid, based in London with two days per week in the office. The NMC offers 30 days annual leave, an enhanced pension scheme starting at 8% employer contribution, life insurance at 4x salary, enhanced parental leave, and other benefits including cycle to work and an employee assistance programme. Note that while initially posted to the Education Concerns Team, the role has flexibility to move between teams as workload requires.
