Position Summary

Arcesium seeks an exceptional Tax Intern to join our global Tax function. This role involves supporting the team in building a structured, audit-ready view of tax deliverables, direct tax, indirect tax, and notices/assessments, across countries, while keeping SOPs current and helping formalize the preparer-reviewer control framework. This internship provides an excellent learning opportunity by contributing to real projects and gaining valuable experience in tax operations, process documentation, and using AI tools (Claude) to accelerate tracker-building, SOP drafting, and data organization work.

Responsibilities

  1. Global Deliverables Tracking
  • Maintain the master global tax deliverables tracker (all filing types, by country)
  • Build and maintain a Direct Tax Tracker: corporate tax filings, advance tax, WHT compliance, provision-support schedules, TP documentation status — by country/entity, with due dates and status
  • Build and maintain an Indirect Tax Tracker: GST/VAT/service tax filings by country/entity, filing frequency, input credit reconciliation status
  • Build and maintain a Tax Notice / Assessment Log: date received, authority, issue summary, response due date, status, owner — for ad-hoc notices and assessments separate from recurring filings
  1. SOP & Process Support
  • Review existing SOPs for gaps/outdated content; flag for SME input
  • Draft/update SOPs using a standardized template
  • Support the preparer-reviewer sign-off mechanism — logging preparer, reviewer, and sign-off dates before filing
  1. AI-Enabled Tracker & Documentation Building
  • Use Claude to draft first-cut tracker structures (columns, categorization logic, status taxonomies) from source lists like country filing calendars or existing spreadsheets
  • Use Claude to convert unstructured inputs (emails, notice PDFs, old SOP docs) into structured tracker rows or SOP drafts, which the intern then reviews and validates with the tax team
  • Use Claude to build lightweight dashboards/summary views (e.g., pivot logic, status roll-ups) on top of the trackers

Qualifications

  • Pursuing/recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Taxation
  • Basic understanding of corporate tax and indirect tax compliance concepts
  • Good written communication for SOP and tracker documentation
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic dashboarding)
  • Comfort using AI tools (Claude/ChatGPT) for drafting and structuring work — will be trained on internal usage norms
  • Detail-oriented, organized, comfortable with structured/repetitive work

The expected monthly base salary for this position is $5,500.

The applicable annual base salary paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors including without limitation the nature and extent of prior experience and educational background.

About this role

Arcesium's Tax Intern role centers on building and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps the firm's global tax operations organized and audit-ready. You'll own several interconnected tracker systems—one for direct tax filings, another for indirect tax compliance, and a third for notices and assessments—while also reviewing and drafting standard operating procedures to formalize how the tax team prepares and reviews deliverables. The work is methodical and detail-focused, requiring you to synthesize information across multiple countries and filing types into structured, usable formats.

A significant part of this internship involves learning to use Claude as a productivity tool. You'll use it to draft tracker templates, convert unstructured documents (emails, PDFs, old spreadsheets) into clean data rows, and build summary dashboards—then validate and refine those outputs with the tax team. This means you'll gain hands-on experience in both tax operations and practical AI-assisted work, not just shadowing but actively contributing to real projects from day one.

The role suits someone pursuing or recently completing a degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or taxation who has solid Excel skills, understands corporate and indirect tax basics, and is comfortable with repetitive, structured work. You should write clearly (SOPs need to be precise) and be genuinely interested in how AI tools can accelerate documentation and data organization. The position is remote and pays $5,500 monthly.
