About this role
Baya Systems, a Series B semiconductor startup, is hiring a Principal Engineer for Physical Design to own the complete RTL-to-GDS implementation flow for complex, high-performance chip designs. You would drive synthesis, floor-planning, place and route, clock tree synthesis, and timing and power closure across block and system-level components, while performing physical design validation and verification tasks including DRC, LVS, and EM/IR analysis. This is a fully remote role based in the US.
The position requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and five years of related experience as a design or project engineer. You'll need hands-on expertise in floor planning, physical design validation, clock trees, ICC, and SoC architecture. The work involves deep cross-functional collaboration with micro-architects to optimize performance, power, and area trade-offs, as well as developing methodologies and recipes for various physical implementation stages.
This role suits someone with strong technical depth in physical design who can work independently across the full implementation spectrum while contributing to process improvement and design strategy. Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience, performance incentives, comprehensive benefits, 401(k), and equity.
