Description
Organize and lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to ensure the team adheres to Scrum principles.
Assist the Product Owner in managing the product backlog, ensuring it is well-defined, prioritized, and ready for the next sprint.
Identify and eliminate obstacles that hinder the team's progress, ensuring a smooth workflow and timely delivery of project goals.
Advocate for Agile methodologies and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team and the organization.
Track and report on team performance metrics, such as velocity and burndown charts, to provide transparency and insights into the team's progress.
Provide guidance and support to team members, helping them understand and implement Scrum practice effectively.
Communicate with stakeholders to ensure alignment of project goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related business or technical field or equivalent work experience. (Typically, four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required, including at least 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master in an IT environment for the Scrum Master position.
A minimum of eight years of relevant experience is required, including at least 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master in an IT environment for the Sr Scrum Master position.
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification is preferred.
Experience in information technology system operation/environment and/or development.
Experience working in Azure Dev Ops (ADO) environment is preferred
Understanding of agile methods, processes, and key concepts including Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
Understanding of system development lifecycle within an enterprise.
Ability to coordinate across teams to accomplish tasks.
Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Knowledge of information technology terms, equipment, systems, functions, and major vendors.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills.
General understanding of IT operating and capital investment budgets.
Understanding of company's existing IT environment and of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.

BHE Renewables is seeking a Scrum Master or Senior Scrum Master to lead agile delivery within its IT organization. You would own the full cadence of Scrum ceremonies—standups, planning, reviews, and retrospectives—while working closely with Product Owners to maintain a well-prioritized backlog and remove blockers that slow team progress. Beyond process facilitation, you'd champion agile adoption across the organization, track performance through velocity and burndown metrics, and serve as a bridge between development teams and stakeholders to keep everyone aligned on goals and timelines.
The role requires five years of relevant IT experience with at least three years specifically as a Scrum Master (eight years and three years respectively for the Senior level), plus a bachelor's degree in a technical or business field or equivalent work history. CSM or PSM certification is preferred. You should be comfortable in an Azure DevOps environment, understand SAFe and enterprise system development lifecycles, and have solid knowledge of IT infrastructure, budgets, and terminology.
This is an in-office position in Des Moines, Iowa at MidAmerican Energy Company, a major Midwest utility with significant renewable energy assets.
