About this role
The Jane Pauley Community Health Center is seeking a part-time Dental Hygienist to deliver preventive care and patient education within a federally qualified health center serving underserved populations across Indiana. You'll perform clinical services including prophylaxis, scaling, sealants, and radiographs while working closely with dental providers to assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans. A significant part of the role involves educating patients and families on oral hygiene and preventive practices, with an emphasis on long-term health outcomes rather than acute treatment alone.
This position suits someone with a dental hygiene degree, current Indiana license, and BLS certification who is genuinely motivated by community-based care. While prior experience in public health or community settings and familiarity with electronic health records are preferred, the core requirement is strong clinical skills combined with genuine interpersonal ability. You'll also handle instrument sterilization, patient triage, documentation, and compliance with infection control protocols—the full scope of hygiene practice in an integrated care environment.
The role offers the mission-driven appeal of working with diverse, underserved patients where preventive care directly shapes health equity. The center provides medical, dental, and vision benefits, generous PTO, a 401(k) with employer contribution, and life and disability coverage. If you're drawn to preventive dentistry and community impact over high-volume clinical production, this part-time opportunity aligns with that priority.
