Trauma Surgeon Jobs in Memphis, TN: Your Surgical Skills, a Better Way to Practice

You chose Trauma Surgery to be there in the moments that matter most. But years of 24-hour in-house call, overnight activations, gunshot wounds and multi-system injuries take a real toll on your sleep, your health and your family. Across the country, trauma and acute care surgeons face some of the highest burnout rates in medicine. Unpredictable hours, the emotional weight of the work and the strain of surgical critical care add up. Skilled Wound Care, a premier national physician group, is hiring Trauma Surgeons in Memphis, TN to work as wound care physicians and lead wound care initiatives in skilled nursing facilities across the area.

Maybe you’re a Trauma Surgeon ready to step away from in-house call and middle-of-the-night activations for good. Maybe you want a part-time role during your off weeks. Either way, this no-call Trauma Surgeon job offers a high-impact career without the corporate red tape.

Why Trauma Surgeons in Memphis, TN Choose Wound Care

In a specialty where your pager can go off at any hour for a level-one activation, we offer a refreshing alternative:

  • Keep Your Surgical Skills: Surgical debridement and bedside procedures stay part of your daily practice.
  • A Healthier Pace: Predictable days replace the adrenaline, sleep deprivation and emotional weight of the trauma bay.
  • See Patients Heal: Follow patients through healing and build lasting relationships, instead of handing them off once they’re stable.
  • Clinical Autonomy: Direct patient outcomes based on your surgical expertise, not a hospital committee or department hierarchy.
  • Smarter Documentation: Our custom software is designed to slash admin time, so you’re not stuck charting at midnight when you could be home at a reasonable hour.

About this role

Skilled Wound Care is recruiting trauma surgeons in Memphis to transition from the traditional on-call model into a structured wound care practice within skilled nursing facilities. Rather than managing acute trauma activations, you'd apply your surgical expertise—particularly in debridement and complex wound management—to patients in the post-acute setting, where you can follow cases through to healing instead of handing off at stabilization.

The role is structured around predictability: Monday through Friday days with no nights, weekends, or pager obligations. You'll perform surgical debridement and bedside procedures, evaluate chronic and non-healing wounds including pressure injuries, and collaborate on care protocols. The position is available full-time or part-time, with compensation ranging from $200,000 to $300,000 annually based on a per-patient and per-procedure model plus quarterly bonuses. An MD or DO, unrestricted state medical license, and DEA license (or eligibility) are required; prior wound care experience is not.

This opportunity appeals to surgeons seeking to step away from the burnout associated with trauma surgery's unpredictable hours and emotional demands while maintaining clinical autonomy and surgical practice. Skilled Wound Care has been certified as a Great Place to Work for five consecutive years, with 95% of current employees rating it favorably.
