About this role
Qualia's Technical Accounting and Special Projects Manager role sits at the intersection of financial reporting and business growth in a fast-scaling SaaS platform. You'd own the technical accounting function for a company managing complex revenue arrangements, M&A activity, and evolving GAAP guidance—meaning your work directly shapes how millions of real estate transactions are reflected in the financials. The role demands deep expertise in revenue recognition (ASC 606) and purchase accounting (ASC 805), with hands-on responsibility for financial statement preparation, audit support, and advising leadership on intricate accounting matters across consolidation, equity transactions, and impairment analyses.
Beyond core technical accounting, you'll lead special projects including purchase accounting for acquisitions and process improvements across the accounting function. You'll collaborate closely with Business Development, Legal, Tax, and FP&A to ensure technical conclusions are properly documented and implemented—then support the operational side by helping with monthly closes, complex reconciliations, and contract reviews. This is a role that requires both depth and breadth: the ability to research and document complex matters while also rolling up your sleeves on implementation and ad-hoc priorities.
The position requires a CPA with 5+ years of experience, including Big 4 or equivalent firm background and prior exposure to SaaS, fintech, or payments companies. You'll need proven technical chops with ASC 606 and working knowledge of ASC 805, plus comfort using AI tools to streamline documentation and testing workflows. Based in Austin or San Francisco with a minimum two-day in-office requirement, the role offers $130,000–$185,000 base salary plus equity and benefits.
