About this role
Ascension's Med Surg Float Pool in Austin offers a full-time nursing role that rotates across multiple specialty units rather than anchoring to a single department. You'll deliver direct patient care, manage care plans, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, and maintain detailed clinical documentation—fundamentally serving as the communication hub that keeps a patient's care aligned across all providers and departments.
This position requires a Texas RN license before your start date, BLS certification within your first month, and a minimum of two years of med/surg nursing experience. PALS and ACLS certifications are preferred but not required. The float pool structure suits nurses who thrive in variety and can adapt quickly to different patient populations and unit workflows, rather than those seeking stability in a single specialty.
Ascension is a large nonprofit Catholic health system with nearly 100,000 employees, recognized as a top healthcare employer and military-friendly workplace. The role is based in Austin and requires in-office work.
