About this role

The Office of Innovative Technologies at UTK is looking for someone to own both the day-to-day administration of Salesforce and the strategic planning around system releases and upgrades. You'd manage multiple environments, work closely with developers on code merges, coordinate with QA teams, and partner with other admins to keep the platform running smoothly while identifying opportunities to improve it. This is a production-focused role where you'll troubleshoot issues, recommend solutions, and serve as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders who need to understand what's possible in Salesforce.

Beyond maintenance, you'll be designing and implementing custom solutions tailored to the university's needs—whether that's building new functionality, integrating other systems, or rolling out purchased software. You'll need strong SQL skills, hands-on experience with relational databases, and familiarity with testing frameworks and automated testing tools. Experience with Salesforce Education Cloud is particularly relevant here, though Sales and Service Cloud experience also qualifies. The role expects you to mentor others, communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and adapt quickly as Salesforce releases new features.

You'll need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, three years of relevant experience including release analysis work, and your Salesforce Administrator Certification. The position is hybrid in Knoxville and offers the career development support and benefits structure UTK provides to its employees. Higher education experience and additional Salesforce certifications are preferred, as is familiarity with tools like Data360, Mulesoft, Tableau, or Azure.
